Product Terms and Conditions - January 2021

In these terms and conditions Any Bus means any bus operator who is part of Greater Manchester Travelcards Ltd as listed here.

You may not be able to travel outside of the Greater Manchester area using your System One ticket. If unsure please check with your local bus operator before you travel.

General Product Terms and Conditions

  1. These general product terms and conditions apply to all Greater Manchester Travelcards Limited trading as System One Travel ("System One Travel") products, available in paper form or on ITSO compatible smartcards including but not limited to the "get me there" and "igo" card ("Smartcard"), which you may purchase from our retail partners (together, the "Product(s)").
  2. In these terms and conditions references to "AnyBus" means any bus operator who is part of Greater Manchester Travelcards Ltd as listed here.
  3. You may not be able to travel outside of the Greater Manchester area using your Product. If unsure please check with your local bus operator before you travel or refer to the Greater Manchester Bus map found at https://tfgm.com/public-transport/maps/greater-manchester-bus-boundary-map detailing boundaries (the "GM Bus Map").
  4. Certain Products may only be valid for use within the System One Travel network (https://www.systemonetravel.co.uk/journey-planner) and/or on bus services provided by operators who are part of the System One Travel network (https://www.systemonetravel.co.uk/where-can-i-use-system-one) (together the "System One Travel Network").
  5. All Products (including the System One Travel membership card):
       a. shall not be deemed valid if destroyed, defaced or mutilated;
       b. not transferable to any other person;
       c. must being shown to a conductor, driver, inspector or any other authorised person ("Authorised Person") whilst on or on boarding the bus, train and/or tram on demand;
       d. are only valid if you, as the holder of the Product, can provide proof of identity if requested by the Authorised Person; and
       e. must not be misused or used fraudulently by the holder. In the event that an Authorised Person establishes or otherwise has reason to believe that the Product is or has been misused or otherwise used fraudulently by the holder, the Product may be withdrawn by the Authorised Person and legal proceedings initiated against the holder by System One Travel.
  6. Any Smartcard can be used to purchase applicable smart ticket Products. Please note that "get me there" and "igo" smartcards are issued by Transport for Greater Manchester ("TfGM") and not System One Travel. The receipt given when purchasing a "get me there" or "igo" product must be kept as proof of purchase. The receipt entitles the holder to travel in the event of card reader failure or a bus, train or tram not being equipped with a card reading facility and it should be retained for inspection with the relevant Smart card.
  7. Please note that the System One Travel membership card confers no right to travel unless used in conjunction with a valid Product.
  8. All Junior Products listed in the Specific Product Terms and Conditions below: apply to individuals who are aged 16 & under (up to 31st August after the holder’s 16th birthday) and who must carry a form of ID at all times when travelling. An applicable Smartcard is required for use of Junior Products (please note that an igo card acts as both your form of ID and Smartcard). All Junior Products include travel on the TfGM Yellow School Bus.
  9. All Young Person Products listed in the Specific Product Terms and Conditions below: apply to individuals who are aged between 16-21-years old (up until the day before the holder's 21st birthday) or up to age 26 (up until the day before the holder's 26th birthday) for full time students. All Young Person Products are valid for a period of 7 or 28 consecutive days from the date shown on the Product. You may be asked to provide any form of common ID which shows your date of birth (for example passport or driving licence) or student ID to prove your age/validity when you purchase or use a Young Person Product and failure to do so could result in you being refused travel.
  10. Use of the Products is subject to the published terms and conditions of the third party Smartcard provider and the third party bus, rail and/or tram operators on whose services the Products are valid and any loss or damage suffered by you whilst using the Product on a third party operator's bus, train or tram will be the responsibility of the third party operator. For the avoidance of doubt it is a condition of use of the Product that the contract formed for individual journeys is between the passenger and the operator carrying the passenger.
  11. We are responsible to you for foreseeable loss and damage caused by us. If we fail to comply with these product terms and conditions, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking this contract or our failing to use reasonable care and skill. Loss or damage is foreseeable if either it is obvious that it will happen or if, at the time the contract was made, both we and you knew that it might happen, for example, if you discussed it with us during the sales process.
  12. We do not exclude or limit in any way our liability to you for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or our responsibility for fraudulent misrepresentation and any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
  13. We are not liable for business losses. If you use the Products for any commercial, business or re-sale purpose we will have no liability to you for any business loss (which includes loss of profits, contracts, goodwill, opportunity and other similar losses).
  14. You and we agree that the laws of England and Wales applies to these terms and conditions and that any dispute between us arising out of or in connection with these terms and conditions will only be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales, unless you live in another part of the UK, in which case the applicable law of that part of the UK will apply and any dispute will be brought before the courts of that part of the UK.


Specific Product Terms and Conditions

Adult Products Terms and Conditions

1 Day AnyBus Adult

Anytime, any day of the week, including Bank Holidays for one day (on the date shown on the Product). Any bus, anywhere in Greater Manchester boundary – please check the GM Bus Map. Valid until 03:59 the following day. Available on Smartcard, and on paper from your driver/conductor, TfGM Travel Shops and transport ticket offices.

7 Day AnyBus Adult

Anytime, any day of the week, including Bank Holidays for seven consecutive days from the date shown on the Product. Any bus, anywhere in Greater Manchester boundary – please check the GM Bus Map. Valid until 0359 the day following the expiry date. Available on Smartcard only.

28 Day AnyBus Adult

Anytime, any day of the week, including Bank Holidays for twenty-eight consecutive days from the date shown on the Product. Any bus, anywhere in Greater Manchester boundary – please check the GM Bus Map. Valid until 0359 the day following the expiry date. Available on Smartcard only

1 Day AnyBus and Tram Adult Off Peak

From 09:30 Monday to Friday & all day at weekends & Bank Holidays (on the date shown on the Product). Any bus & any tram, anywhere in Greater Manchester boundary – please check the GM Bus Map. Valid until 03:59 the following day. Available on Smartcard, and on paper from your bus or tram driver/conductor, TfGM Travel Shops and transport ticket offices.

1 Day AnyBus and Train Adult Off Peak

Any bus & any train, anywhere in Greater Manchester boundary – please check the GM Bus Map. Valid from 09:30 Monday to Friday & all day at weekends & Bank Holidays (on the date shown on the Product). Valid until 03:59 the following day. Restrictions in place on the use of Northern Rail and System One Travel off-peak tickets. The restrictions will apply to all journeys, irrespective of direction, departing between 16:01 and 18:29, Monday to Friday excluding Bank Holidays and also cover other operators’ services on Northern Rail routes. Available on paper only from your driver/conductor, TfGM Travel Shops and transport ticket offices.

1 Day AnyBus and Tram Adult Peak

AnyBus or tram valid for one day (on the date shown on the Product) until 0359 the following day. Any bus and any tram, anywhere in Greater Manchester boundary – please check the GM Bus Map. Available on Smartcard, and on paper from your driver/conductor, TfGM Travel Shops and transport ticket offices.

7 Day AnyBus and Tram Adult

Valid for 7 consecutive days from the date shown on the Product. Anytime, any day of the week, including Bank Holidays. Any bus and tram, anywhere in Greater Manchester boundary – please check the GM Bus Map. Valid until 0359 the day following the expiry date. Available on Smartcard only.

28 Day AnyBus and Tram Adult

Valid for 28 consecutive days from the date shown on the Product. Anytime, any day of the week, including Bank Holidays. Any bus and tram, anywhere in Greater Manchester boundary – please check the GM Bus Map. Valid until 0359 the day following the expiry date. Available on Smartcard only.

1 Day Any Train and Tram Adult Off Peak (paper only)

From 09:30 Monday to Friday & all day at weekends & Bank Holidays (on the date shown on the Product). Valid until 03:59 the following day. Any train & any tram, anywhere in Greater Manchester boundary – please check the GM Bus Map. Restrictions in place on the use of Northern Rail and System One Travel off-peak tickets. The restrictions will apply to all journeys, irrespective of direction, departing between 16:01 and 18:29, Monday to Friday excluding bank holidays and also cover other operators’ services on Northern Rail routes. Available on paper only from your conductor, TfGM Travel Shops and transport ticket offices.

1 Day AnyBus, Train and Zone 1 Tram Off Peak

From 09:30 Monday to Friday & all day at weekends & Bank Holidays (on the date shown on the Product). Valid until 03:59 the following day. Any bus, train & tram, anywhere in Greater Manchester boundary – please check the GM Bus Map. Restrictions in place on the use of Northern Rail and System One Travel off-peak tickets. The restrictions will apply to all journeys, irrespective of direction, departing between 16:01 and 18:29, Monday to Friday excluding bank holidays and also cover other operators’ services on Northern Rail routes. Available on paper only from your driver/conductor, TfGM Travel Shops and transport ticket offices.

7 Day AnyBus, Train and Zone 1 Tram

1. This travelcard is only valid for travel when presented with either an adult System One Travel membership card or rail issued photocard. 2. Not transferable. 3. Valid for use on bus services provided by operators who are part of the System One Travel Network and for standard class rail travel as advertised. 4. Valid for travel on Zone 1 tram only. 5. Valid for 7 consecutive days from the date shown on the Product. Valid until 0359 the day following the expiry date. Available on paper only from your driver/conductor, TfGM Travel Shops and transport ticket offices.

28 days AnyBus, Train and Zone 1 Tram

1. This travelcard is only valid for travel when presented with either an adult System One Travel membership card or rail issued photocard. 2. Not transferable. 3. Valid for use on bus services provided by operators who are part of the System One Travel Network and for standard class rail travel as advertised. 4. Valid for travel on Zone 1 tram only. 5. Valid for 28 days from the date shown on the Product. Valid until 0359 the day following the expiry date. Available on paper only from your driver/conductor, TfGM Travel Shops and transport ticket offices.

Annual AnyBus, Train and Zone 1 Tram

1. This Adult annual travelcard is only valid for travel when presented with either an adult System One Travel membership card or rail issued photocard. 2. Not transferable. 3. Valid for use on bus services provided by operators who are part of the System One Travel Network and for standard class rail travel as advertised. 4. Valid for travel on Zone 1 tram only. 5. Valid for 1 year from the date shown on the Product. Valid until 0359 the day following the expiry date. In the event this annual travelcard is lost or stolen, to apply for consideration of a replacement you must write to Customer Services, System One Travel Travelcards, c/o GMTL (Stagecoach Manchester Head Office), Hyde Road, Manchester M12 6JS, including proof of purchase and a lost or stolen crime reference from your local police station.

Young Person Products

7 Day AnyBus Young Person

Anytime, any day of the week, including Bank Holidays for seven consecutive days from the date shown on the Product. Any bus, anywhere in Greater Manchester boundary (some geographic exclusions apply for 16 and under products – please check GM Bus Map). Available on Smartcard only.

28 Day AnyBus Young Person

Anytime, any day of the week, including Bank Holidays for twenty-eight consecutive days from the date shown on the Product. Any bus, anywhere in Greater Manchester boundary (some geographic exclusions apply for 16 and under products – please check GM Bus Map). Available on Smartcard only.

Junior Products

1 Day Anybus Junior

Anytime, any day of the week, including Bank Holidays for one day (on the date shown on the Product). Any bus, anywhere in Greater Manchester boundary (some geographic exclusions apply for 16 and under products – please check GM Bus Map). Available on Smartcard, and on paper from your driver/conductor, TfGM Travel Shops and transport ticket offices.

7 Day AnyBus Junior

Anytime, any day of the week, including Bank Holidays for seven consecutive days from the date shown on the Product. Any bus, anywhere in Greater Manchester boundary (some geographic exclusions apply for 16 and under products – please check GM Bus Map). Available on Smartcard only.

28 Day AnyBus Junior

Anytime, any day of the week, including Bank Holidays for twenty-eight consecutive days from the date shown on the Product. Any bus, anywhere in Greater Manchester boundary (some geographic exclusions apply for 16 and under products – please check GM Bus Map). Available on Smartcard only.

Corporate/Bulk/Not for sale to General Public direct

One day Scratch card

1. This ticket is non-transferable. 2. This ticket must be validated prior to travel and is available for use on the day of travel indicated. 3. This ticket is valid for use on bus services of participating operators within Greater Manchester only*. It is NOT valid for travel on train or Metrolink tram.

*This refers to those buses operating in the System One Travel Network.

Weekly Scratch card

1. This ticket is non-transferable. 2. This ticket must be validated prior to travel and is available for use on the days of travel indicated, running from the first date scratched off the card by the holder. 3. This ticket is valid for use on bus services of participating operators within Greater Manchester only*. It is NOT valid for travel on train or Metrolink tram.

*This refers to those buses operating in the System One Travel Network.

System One Travel 28 Day or three monthly AnyBus Young Person - bought corporately

For those aged 16-21-years old (up until the day before the holder's 21st birthday) or up to age 26 (up until the day before the holder's 26th birthday) for full time students (with valid student ID to show you are in full time education with proof of study). You will need a UK issued college or university ID or a System One Travel Young Person membership card to use this Product. AnyBus anywhere in Greater Manchester boundary (please check GM Bus Map) for 28 consecutive days or three consecutive calendar months from date shown on the Product.

System One Travel 28 Day or three monthly AnyBus Adult - bought corporately

You will need an official form of photo ID or a System One Travel membership card to use this Product. AnyBus anywhere in Greater Manchester boundary (please check GM Bus Map) for 28 consecutive days or three consecutive calendar months from date shown on the Product.
